Experience & Approach

Carl’s journey in economics education began with the inspiration of his own teacher, Mr. Gregory, whose intellectual rigor and unwavering support demonstrated the transformative power of exceptional teaching.

Lessons were engaging, entertaining, and consistently challenging and the emphasis on continuous self-improvement remains central to Carl’s educational philosophy.

What Carl values most about tutoring is the opportunity to adapt his approach to each student’s individual needs. Some students are highly capable but lack confidence; others are assured but need to refine specific technical skills.

Carl’s approach centres on listening to each student as an individual and treating them as a capable partner in their learning.

Motivation & Ambition

Many years as a House Tutor enabled Carl to engage in thousands of individual and small-group student discussions.

These conversations revealed why it is often so difficult for students to grasp every key detail in a classroom environment and how this can so easily lead to theoretical misconceptions.

This is why Carl is committed to providing truly personalised education.

Through detailed discussion and deliberate practice, Carl’s work focuses on helping every student reach the highest grade of which they are capable. The testimonials he receives from students and parents serve as a constant reminder of why he has dedicated his career to helping young people flourish.

Carl holds Qualified Teacher Status and a BA (Hons) in Economics and Politics from the University of Warwick.

“Carl consistently delivered absolutely superb A-Level Economics results: I believe the best we have ever had.”

His dedication to his students, and all the hard work he undertakes to achieve such outcomes, really pays off. This is especially true for the students who initially struggle and whose final grade exceeds all expectations.

Testament to his commitment to his students is the excellent quality of his subject and tutor reports. The care he takes to provide personalised and helpful targets and comments is truly exemplary.

Executive Director, Benenden School (2018-23)

“Mr. Fisher is by far the most influential teacher I have had the privilege of learning from; his impact extends far beyond catalysing my passion for economics.”

Beginning A-Level Economics, I expected it to be simply another subject that required effort and revision to achieve high grades. However, by the end, through his teaching, I had not only developed a genuine passion for the subject, but also a transformed outlook on hard work, discipline, and perseverance - a true testament to his dedication and belief in his students.

What set Mr. Fisher apart was his ability to equip his students with the tools to think independently and critically.

Rather than just memorising content, he encouraged consolidation, reflection and precision in his students work, instilling long lasting habits of intellectual curiosity and attention to detail. His teaching showed me not just what to think about, but how to think - critically, accurately, and with depth.

Mr. Fisher is a teacher whose influence endures. He not only supports his students in achieving the highest academic standards but also engraves invaluable skills and values in his students that continue in their personal and professional futures. Truly one of a kind!

“Carl is the best teacher any of my children had in their school years.”

I cannot think of another teacher who has had anything like the impact that Carl had. He steered my 2 oldest to an A and an A* at A-level from a classroom in Rugby school and the third one to an A by remotely tutoring him after he had moved to Benenden school (and I had tracked him down!).

His clarity of thought, methodology, and communication, his attention to detail and process were second-to-none in my experience of my children’s teachers and all of them responded extremely well to his teaching.

Carl makes economics fun, but most of all he makes it understandable and “achievable”. Given that an understanding of economics is increasingly important in this world and that it is, by no means, an easy subject, I can wholeheartedly and completely recommend him.

His dedication to his students is unmatched and he is the only teacher I’ve known who genuinely enjoys marking, because he cares so deeply about helping every student achieve their very best.

I cannot recommend Mr. Fisher highly enough.

“I had the privilege of being taught by Mr. Fisher. His commitment to his students was exceptional, always going above and beyond to provide detailed feedback in very short timeframes.”

His work ethic extended far beyond what can be seen through grades and papers. He instilled a strong sense of discipline, hard work and perseverance - qualities I keep with me every day.

I feel very honoured to share my experience and I truly believe any student would benefit from his teaching. He made me a better student and a better person.
